TouchWind Special Products is a dedicated branch of TouchWind, created to explore unique applications of our patented tilting rotor technology outside of large-scale floating wind farms.
Our goal is to adapt this proven concept — known for its storm resilience, high efficiency, and mechanical simplicity — into specialized energy solutions for unique markets and challenging environments. These include mobile, containerized systems like VATA, as well as other bespoke designs for defense, disaster relief, remote industry, and niche commercial needs.
By working in parallel with TouchWind’s core offshore turbine development, TouchWind Special Products can move quickly from concept to prototype, targeting applications where agility, reliability, and rapid deployment are essential. Here, we take the same spirit of innovation that drives our floating wind technology and apply it to new frontiers in renewable power.
TouchWind VATA – Containerized Dual-Use Wind Turbine
The VATA (Versatile All-Terrain Application) system is a 25 kW mobile wind turbine packaged in a standard 20 ft STANAG container for easy transport by truck, ship, or aircraft. Once on site, it can be erected without cranes in 4–6 hours and lowered in 30 minutes for ground-level maintenance.
Its single-piece, passively pitching, downwind-tilting rotor maximizes energy capture from 2 m/s up to 70 m/s, enabling seven to eight times more annual energy than comparable mobile turbines. The design minimizes wake effects, allowing multiple units to operate close together in a microgrid alongside batteries or generators.
For civilian use, VATA can replace diesel generators at remote worksites, islands, events, and disaster relief zones. For defense, it provides resilient, decentralized power for forward operating bases and expeditionary missions, cutting fuel logistics and emissions. Built to withstand harsh climates, VATA combines storm resilience, high reliability, and rapid mobility — making it a cost-effective and strategic energy solution.
